NAUI – Advanced Diver/Nitrox

Advanced Diver/Nitrox Diver

Once you have completed the open water diver course, or if you’ve been diving for years, the Advanced Scuba Diver certification takes you to the next level of training. As an advanced diver you will learn how to adjust to varying conditions, environments, and activities taking full advantage of the recreational diving limits. You will gain more confidence and capabilities to handle more challenging diving conditions. This course is appropriate for divers who:

  • Desire additional training
  • Have recently moved to a our area and desire local orientation
  • Do not have, but wish to have NAUI certification
  • Desire the ability to dive more challenging diving environments.

The Course: The advanced diver course is comprised of an evaluation of your current skills, academic instruction, and at least 6 open water dives in varying conditions. Diving conditions will include deep diving (80+ feet), low visibility or night diving, navigational skills, and optional specialties such as search and recovery, underwater photography,  and non-penetration wreck diving.

Nitrox Diver – Do you want to extend your bottom time, lessen your surface interval, and maximize every dive? Become a NAUI Enriched Air Nitrox diver! This course may be taught as a stand alone program or may be combined with other NAUI training programs such as NAUI Scuba Diver or NAUI Advanced Diver.

During this course, you will learn how to choose the proper blend of Nitrox for your dive profile, determine maximum depth limits for your Nitrox mixture, analyze your breathing mixture, and plan and safely execute each dive. Your instructor will teach you about the physiology of oxygen and nitrogen; advantages, disadvantages, and risks of nitrox; oxygen toxicity; hazards and precautions of handling oxygen; the concept of Equivalent Air Depth; use of EANx with standard Air Dive Tables; common gas mixing procedures; and more.

After your exam, you can qualify for the Nitrox recognition card or go ahead and complete two dives to receive your Nitrox Diver certification card. And, your NAUI instructor can integrate your Nitrox course into your Scuba Diver course!
